Handmade design products with a unique story

We have known Return to Sender for a while now, but their products are super nice and of course, so is their mission. Naturally, you can buy their entire collection at Up To Do Good.

Return to Sender was founded in 2006 by Katja Schuurman, Tessa Vos and Maarten van Huijstee with the goal to achieve sustainable development by fair trade. Return to Sender aims to help women in the poorest regions of the world to make a living for themselves and their families. The proceeds of the company go directly ‘return to sender’ which contributes to a better wage for the women and, with that, a step towards a better living.

Seven Dutch top designers develop the annual design collection together with artisans from developing countries. A collection inspired by the techniques and materials from the country and the knowledge of colours and shapes of the designer. In this way two worlds come together in one unique product: handmade design products with a special story. As a result, Return to Sender boasts a very diverse collection. Up To Do Good has most of the collection on display; for example, vases, textile, candles, jewellery, cushions and much more.

Return to Sender has already contributed to the creation of more than 8800 jobs worldwide through the sales of more than 2 million products.

Co-operation with Plan Nederland

Return to Sender has started a co-operation with Plan Nederland with the aim to develop a better future for girls in developing countries. Plan Nederland is a worldwide organisation and strives to create opportunities for girls and young women to successfully follow and finalise a professional education. If these girls stay in elementary school one extra year, their base income will be 10 to 20% higher. If they stay in high school one extra year, they will earn 25% more in their future jobs. Jointly with Plan Nederland, entrepreneurship is stimulated. By finishing a professional education, the new generation has a much better chance for a decent job.
