Production:
• LOCALLY Makii purchases the FSC wood with the Dutch State Foresty. They chop wood to make the forest more diverse and future proof for men, animals and plants.
• SOCIAL The wooden animals are produced by the Stunt Foundation; a social enterprise in Delft for people who are unable (due to circumstances) to work in a regular company. The finishing is done in a penitentiary institution. In this way, prisoners learn job skills and receive branch related certificates that will provide them with better job opportunities after their detention.
• SUSTAINABLE Interested in other toys? Return the wooden animals to us and Makii will fix them and give them a second life; you will receive a voucher at Up To Do Good!
Makii is a design studio based in Rotterdam that was founded in 2013 by illustrators Mielo Pouwer and Idris van Heffen. Makii designs and produces supercute and innovating products for kids, like mega coloring pages and sustainable toys. Makii plants trees to compensate for the CO2 emission of their products.
