In 2015, three friends – Dario Phillips, Kyle Spencer, and Wylie Von Tempsky – from California and Hawaii realized that after long days at the beach, there just weren’t any towels that were both fun and functional. So, they set out to change that. They didn’t just want to make towels. They wanted to create art — in the form of something you actually use every day.
What began as a hunt for a better beach towel has grown into a brand that blends creativity with practicality, turning an everyday essential into a statement piece. At Slowtide, each towel is a mini canvas of self-expression. Inspired by surfing, traveling, camping, yoga, nature, music, and the laid-back lifestyle of the founders, every piece is made to look amazing, last long, and go wherever life takes you.
Slowtide collaborates with world-renowned artists and legendary names like Takashi Murakami, Grateful Dead, Clark Little, Kevin Lyons, The Beatles, and Pink Floyd. Every design tells a story – about the artist, the inspiration, or the journey that brought the print to life. With Slowtide, your towel becomes part of your vibe.
But Slowtide isn’t just about looks. From the start, the mission has been clear: to create products that make you feel good — inside and out. All cotton is certified through the Cotton LEADS program, meaning it’s responsibly sourced and sustainably grown. All polyester products? Made from 100% post-consumer recycled waste – mostly plastic bottles that are turned into premium, soft, and durable fibers.
